Numerous bills are being considered in the next two weeks by the New York State Senate and Assembly that are aimed to kill development in the Marcellus and Utica Shale regions of the state before it even starts. Laced with false assumptions and incorrect data, these bills are mere obstructionist's tools that will keep the financial handcuffs firmly on upstate's residents.

These bills listed above not only make false assumptions about the natural gas industry and its safety record, but also assume the process of hydraulic fracturing has been the cause of mishaps in other states.

We urge you to tell New York's lawmakers what we already know – hydraulic fracturing is not new and it is safe. It is a well-regulated, environmentally sound practice that has been employed more than 1.1 million times nationwide without a single incident of drinking water contamination.
